European working vacation

So here I am. In the old country as they call it. I'm still fighting my horrible jet lag. It's getting better every day though. Unfortunately it's impossible to have vacation all year long and some have to "work" from time to time. Working means here competition glider flying. A week and a half to go and the Polish Standard Class Nationals in Zielona Gora will start. Looking at the entries it's not too hard to figure out it's not gonna be a piece of cake. Top pilots all the way through.

I'll be flying my favorite Mike November (MN), Jantar Std. 3 from the Aeroclub Szczecin. I have to admit that I missed him a bit. It's a nice piece of glider. Even though he's old he flies the way I want him to fly and we turned into friends through all these years. And yes, it's a boy ;-)

Mike November in EPZP, 2010

Since I haven't flown gliders in quite a while this has to be treated as a warm up for the Worlds in Sweden. There is only 5 days break and 1600 km between these two comps. We decided to take the ferry to have a break in the long drive and get some 4 hours of sleep on the water. Hopefully no one will get seasick. The polish ferry companies didn't really want to cooperate because the length (car + trailer) exceeds 12 meters. It's 14 meters all together to be exact. It's possible but would cost a fortune (cargo conditions for trucks apply). I decided to try out German and Scandinavian companies and ... no problem whatsoever. I'll have the bookings completed tomorrow. Oh well, life seems to be easier here and there.

The next weeks will be pretty busy since there is still so much to organize. Looking out the window I can only hope the weather will get better at some point and I can get some good flying while in the good old Europe. Besides that I came with just a small bag with T-Shirts and shorts for the summer time ... So summer please come!
